Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree
Vinyl Review
This album has been generally panned by the critics, but we know better don't we?
A lot of the negative reviews seem to be people who are influenced by
the general media, and whose reviews are usually generic. Sites such as pitchfork
are always snobby, and give higher ratings to electro folk indie stylings.
For general music fans who rate an album mostly on how is makes them feel,
this album should score higher. I've waiting to review this album until it was released
on vinyl, which was last Tuesday. My assumptions where correct when I thought
the album was a "vinyl album" and would sound better as a whole on such a format.
on Seventh Tree we see Alison naturally growing up, and presenting us with
a positive upbeat yet musically mellow album. The first three tracks are very strong,
starting with the beautiful "Clowns", and onto the very different (for Goldfrapp) "Little
Bird", con tining onto the positive "Happiness". The overall feel of this album is
mature and direct. There is more honesty and excitement here than just
throwing crazy sounds together and mixing it high. This is pure pop music
at it's finest, and the perfect album for your lazy summer afternoons.
This album was meant for vinyl...
