Pop Subversion contains a healthy dose of both established and emerging artists from the realms of street art, pop surrealism, lowbrow, illustration, print making, tattoo and so much more. Through this group exhibition, promising young artists will have the chance to exhibit side by side with some of the more established artists in these fields. This mixture will allow the viewer to experience a plethora of varying styles and techniques rising out of this powerful New Contemporary movement in art. At the center of this exhibition lies the original artwork of Juxtapoz founder (and quite arguably the 'father' of this New Contemporary movement in art) Robert Williams!

3rd Ward is a 20,000 sq. ft. art facility for creative professionals, located at 195 Morgan Ave. in Bushwick, Brooklyn.


3rd Ward offers Brooklyn's community of artists and creative professionals a photo studio, wood shop, metal shop, digital media lab, audio studio, classes and office space. We are committed to helping artists further their careers and creative projects by providing a space where resources, tools, and a creative community are all within arms reach. We have everything from table saws and TIG welders to digital video editing stations and classes on web design and we're always expanding! 3rd Ward is home to programmers, designers, architects, sculptors, wood/metal workers, photographers, video editors, and more. 3rd Ward members have access to all of our facilities from 8 am to midnight Monday - Friday and 9 am to midnight Saturday & Sunday.

ahem, regular commercials. What a marketing ploy to get people to stay tuned
between the breaks.

At least this year the game itself actually lived up to the billing.

3rd Ward's SPRING SOLO SHOW

This SOLO SHOW is open to artists working in sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, motion graphics, illustration, installation, industrial design, graphic design, and/or film & video. If your work falls outside these categories, drop us a line - we're pretty flexible. And if it falls between them, even better...

The Selected Artist will receive a $1000 cash grant provided by the kind folks at Pernod plus a 2-month residency at 3rd Ward with FULL access to studios and facilities along with an exhibition at 3rd Ward in March with a huge opening reception and city-wide press exposure.
