Bushwick Profile: Peter Kirk

Meet your new neighbor, and musician...
Peter Kirk

1. How long have you lived in Bushwick?
Since Jan 1 this year (!) Though I have a bunch of friends who have lived here for awhile, so I'm pretty familiar with the neighborhood.

2. Favorite local place to eat?
Local Burrito on Graham and Metropolitan. It's unhealthy how often I eat there.

3. Have you seen any local shows?
I've been so busy with work and recording since I've moved here that I haven't had a chance to check out any of the local music venues yet. However, I played at Goodbye Blue Monday in December. It was a late show at 11:30 p.m. on a Sunday night. I was hoping to see some bands, but I was pretty much the only person there aside from the sound guy and the bartender. Sigh. I'm really excited to get out there and see some shows. I've read about Live at Shea Stadium. I think what they're doing there is pretty awesome. I would love to play there and see some local bands as well.

4. What is your subway stop?
Morgan Ave.

5. Any interesting stories living in the hood?
I work during the day for a foreign currency dealer in lower Manhattan, so when I get off the train I'm still in my business attire. I walked into Caps Unlimited yesterday on Graham Ave which sells caps (obviously) and a large variety of urban wear. I looked rather conspicuous walking into Caps Unlimited in my work clothes. While trying on some hoodies, I could hear some of the younger kids in the store laughing, but it's all good! I didn't end up buying any clothes, but I bought a pretty awesome NY Jets!

6. Anything you want to say, go for it.
All of my songs are free downloads on http://peterkirksongs.com/
Live dates are also posted there. I'm always open to playing anywhere, and I look forward to meeting/seeing the local artists around the neighborhood.
